EMRI REPAIR has had the pleasure of overhauling 4 generators from MV Bucentaur. The seamless cooperation between EMRI REPAIR and EMRI SERVICES made it possible to overhaul in a small timeframe.
EMRI SERVICES disconnected the 4 AVK generators on board of the vessel. After this, the generators were transported to the workshop in Ede.
The generators were given a full inspection upon arriving at the facility. This involves dismantling the generator and cleaning of all the parts. The windings have been high pressure cleaned and thoroughly dried afterwards. In this early stage it was found that in 3 out of the 4 generators the windings didn’t meet the required specifications and after consulting the customer, rewinding the rotors was the desired option.
The rewinding has been carried out by our own rewinding department. After pyrolizing and removing all the windings the rotor has been painted in factory color. The form wound coils were placed, coated with isolating resin and dynamically balanced.
The customer also requested a modification to the filter housing to fit a more common type of filter. Our technician skillfully modified the housing to fit the new filters, but still maintain a factory appearance.
The overhauled rotors have been merged with the stators, the bearings have been replaced and also the voltage regulators have been replaced by a EMRI LX10.2. This voltage regulator is developed by EMRI Electronics and is one of the most advanced and reliable voltage regulators in the industry.
To complete the overhaul all generators have been painted on the outside, also in original factory colors.
EMRI SERVICES has reinstalled the generators on board of the MV Bucentaur. The skids have been cleaned, coupling rubbers have been inspected and reinstalled and as to assure a long life of the machinery, all generators a laser aligned.
