EMRI Electronics has been commissioned by a foreign military to developed a failure protection for generators, which will be applied to all naval vessels.
The product is called the ‘Dual Channel AVR’. It consists of an AFD (AVR Failure Detection, also engineerd by EMRI) and two voltage regulators. The AFD continually monitors whether the primary voltage regulator is functioning properly. If, for whatever reason, the primary voltage regulator fails, the system automatically switches to the secondary voltage regulator. This allows the generator to continue in operation and the output current will not decrease.
The secondary system is a fully operation system. Therefore it has no restrictions compared to the primary system.
This system can be usefull to any situation where uptime has to maximized.
