On request of our customer, who specializes in the rental of generator sets, we have modified thee Caterpillar generators. The modifications where done to easily switch the generator output voltage between 400 Volt and 690 Volt, making the generator usable for a wider field of application in the rental market.
To solve our customers problem, the windings of the generators are equipped with extra connections, who in turn provide the required 400V and 690V generator output voltage. To make the switching process as easy as possible, two EMRI automatic voltage regulators are installed, who each are programmed to regulate a different output voltage. By flicking a switch and adjusting the terminal blocks correctly, the output voltage can now be easily adjusted as desired.
For controlling the generators we have chosen for the EMRI LXCOS digital voltage regulator. We chose this AVR for its wide adjustment range and high level of accuracy. To guarantee perfect functionality of the generator and it’s modifications we rigorously tested the equipment in our test facility.
